About Luella
Luella is passionate about helping people improve their quality of life through offering compassionate, evidence-based and quality client care. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (First Class Honours) at the University of Canberra, followed by a Master of Professional Psychology (Distinction) at the University of Newcastle and completing internships in private, NDIS, community settings.
After transitioning from the corporate sector, Luella has worked within NDIS settings for eight years, progressing from support worker to behaviour therapist, counsellor, and now registered psychologist. In these roles, she has primarily supported individuals with autism, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related presentations, and intellectual disability.
Luella’s 2021 bachelor of science in psychology honours thesis examined how community-based creative arts programs can support disaster risk reduction in bushfire-affected communities. The research highlighted creative expression and social connection as meaningful pathways for trauma recovery, strengthening community bonds, and enhancing resilience.
Coupled with a background in music and performance, and ongoing studies in music performance, Luella has a strong interest in supporting performers, athletes, creative and neurodiverse individuals, those in high-pressure or performance-focused roles, and people recovering from trauma.
Luella adopts a holistic, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approach, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based therapies, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and social skills training.
Outside of work, Luella enjoys spending time with her dog and loved ones, health and fitness, swimming at the beach, hiking in nature, playing music and reading about philosophy and psychology.
